Campaign Finance Database

Check the campaign finance database for contributions, expenditures, and summary information reported by Maryland Campaign Finance Entities. You can also review information about campaign committees.

 

Public Campaign Financing

Candidates for Governor and Lt. Governor are entitled to receive public funds for their campaigns provided they comply with the requirements established under Election Law Article Title 14. The Summary of Public Financing Laws will provide prospective candidates and other interested persons with an overview of how to apply for and receive public funds, the amount of public funds currently available, and information on prior use of public funds.

Reporting Schedule

The Reporting Schedule, applicable to continuing and non-continuing committees, lists the transaction periods and due dates for all of campaign finance reports due in 2005-2007.

Electronic Filing & ELECTrack

In November 1999, Maryland law began to require that the campaign accounts file the campaign finance reports in an electronic storage format. Since then, the Maryland State Board of Elections has developed and made available to all campaign treasurers of Maryland 'ELECTrack,' an electronic filing software. You can download a free copy of ELECTrack and use it to file your reports. You may also use your own software provided that it can produce output compatible with our system.

Disclosure of Contributions

Maryland Law requires persons doing business with Maryland Government and/or person employing lobbyists to file a Disclosure of Contributions. Reports are due every six months on August 5th and February 5th. Provided is detailed information about who is required to file this report and answers by the Attorney General's Office to frequently asked questions about this filing requirement.

Charitable Contributions from Campaign Funds: SBE has received numerous inquiries by individuals wanting to know whether it is permissible to use campaign funds for the purpose of donating to disaster relief efforts. The Candidacy and Campaign Finance Division has prepared the following guidance on this topic.

The Candidacy and Campaign Finance staff will conduct training seminars on the reporting requirements and responsibilities for Chairman and Treasurers. These seminars teach you the basics of campaign finance compliance, electronic filing as well as a general overview of election law. The Candidacy and Campaign Finance staff is available to conduct seminars for different groups. Groups must be over 15 people.
