2000 Presidential Election


The official results for both the General and Primary elections in Maryland are available for viewing and printing. These results can be seen in their entirety or broken down by office or district. If you are looking for raw election data for the 2000 General Election please see our election data page. Unfortunately, data files are not available for the 2000 Primary Election.

Voter Turnout

Voter turnout information for the General and Primary elections shows statewide voter participation as well as participation per congressional district and party. These figures include votes by absentee ballots.

Presidential Electors

On December 18, 2000 the 10 Presidential Electors of Maryland nominated by their party and elected on November 7, 2000 cast their votes for Al Gore and Joe Lieberman for President and Vice President of the United States of America. A copy of the Certificate of Ascertainment of those Electors is presented together with the minutes of their meeting.

447 state-filed candidates ran in the 2000 Presidential Primary Election and 76 state-filed candidates ran in the General Election. The State Board keeps public lists of all the candidates on its website.

Ballot Questions

All Maryland voters had the opportunity to vote on two Constitutional Amendments on November 7, 2000. Voters in certain counties also had the opportunity to cast votes on county specific ballot questions. The text of both statewide and local questions are available in full and shown by county.
